The Art of Ebru: New Creative Methods in Adult Education

At Craft Depo, we continue to develop creative activities and explore new teaching methods that make adult education more engaging, accessible and diverse. Our goal is not only to learn new artistic techniques but also to find ways to involve people of different ages, backgrounds and abilities in creative activities.

One of these creative fields is Ebru - the traditional art of painting on water, which allows artists to create unique patterns and transfer them onto paper.

In October 2025, a Craft Depo educator participated in an individual Erasmus+ learning mobility in Riga, Latvia, attending a course organised by Amarana House.

The course combined artistic practice with modern approaches to adult education. The training covered various Ebru techniques, colour combinations and composition, as well as methods for adapting creative workshops to different groups of learners, including older adults and people with special needs.

Particular attention was paid to using creativity to improve concentration, reduce stress and support emotional well-being. Participants also developed ideas for accessible and inclusive workshops.

Sustainability was an important part of both the training and the journey. The programme explored the use of environmentally friendly materials, paper reuse and responsible resource management. The journey itself was organised using more sustainable land transport, reflecting the Green Travel principles of Erasmus+.

The knowledge and experience gained will help us further develop Ebru activities at Craft Depo, expand our creative workshop programmes and introduce new teaching approaches in adult education.

For our team, international learning is above all an opportunity to bring home fresh ideas and practical experience that make creative education in Narva more engaging and accessible.

This mobility was supported by the Erasmus+ programme, project 2025-1-EE01-KA121-ADU-000328467.
