In July 2025, three teachers from MTÜ Craft Depo in Narva participated in international training in Italy as part of the Erasmus+ programme.

The training took place in Rome at Studio Cassio  Arte del Mosaico, on the course Roman Mosaic and Micromosaic Jewelry, focusing on traditional Roman mosaic techniques and the creation of micromosaic jewellery.

New Techniques and Professional Experience

During the training, the teachers explored the distinctive features of Italian mosaic art, learned new techniques for working with natural stone and discovered methods for creating miniature mosaic compositions and jewellery.

One of the most valuable aspects was learning traditional techniques that require precision, patience and close attention to detail. Hands-on practice under the guidance of experienced artisans helped participants develop new skills and discover fresh possibilities for using mosaic art in adult creative education.

Exploring Italy's cultural heritage complemented the professional training and provided inspiration for future workshops.

A Sustainable Approach to International Learning

The teachers chose to travel by car. This allowed them to organise a shared journey while giving attention to more environmentally responsible travel practices.

Sustainability was also reflected in discussions about the efficient use of materials and their potential applications in creative projects.

How Will Craft Depo Use the Learning Outcomes?

The greatest value of the mobility lies in sharing the newly acquired knowledge with our learners.

Roman mosaic and micromosaic techniques will enrich Craft Depo's educational activities, offer adult learners new creative challenges and introduce them to Italian artistic traditions.

The teachers gained valuable practical experience, fresh ideas for developing workshops and additional motivation for continued professional development.

International training helps Craft Depo improve the quality of adult education, introduce new creative approaches and make learning more varied and engaging.
